My first pick-up for the year is an ASICS Gel Lyte V. It comes in a full navy upper with burgundy tiger stripes and some navy splatter on the midsole. Simple, to the point and quit nice. There is whoever two new things with this Gel Lyte V. One, it’s a ‘vegan’ make-up and two, it comes in a new box I personally haven’t seen before…
So what’s a ‘Vegan’ sneaker? It’s footwear made without any animal ingredients, leather or byproducts. This is supposed to be better for the environment, so it’s good to see ASICS step up to the plate. Though these shoes are synthetic based, it doesn’t mean the quality suffers. So get the idea out of your head that they come in shoddy construction. Hit or miss at times? You can say that, but the same can be said for any premium shoe. For instance, synthetic shoes can reign over premium wear in certain weather situations. I can go more into this, but I’m sure you get the idea on ‘Vegan’ shoes. Cruelty free is a good thing.
Yesterday I went out for a quick session of photos with this pair. Below, you’ll see all the photos including a couple of materialsNdetail shots (close ups). Overall, I’m happy with the quality and comfort of this model. I don’t see any differences between this and a non vegan make-up. That’s a good thing though. The only issue I have is how the hell do I tell the difference between a vegan and non-vegan shoe? I didn’t see anything on the box or label stating it was vegan (Also, I believe the three all black GT ll, GTlll and Gel Saga are vegan sneakers). Maybe the new box is for vegan sneakers only? Your guess is as good as mine. I’ll have to look into to this and see if I can get any more info from ASICS on how you can tell whether it’s a vegan shoe or not. In the meantime, enjoy the photos and true color of the shoe. Unlike some bad photos out there showing a completely different blue hue of the shoe. Grab your pair at the nearest ASICS retailer.
