There’s only a couple of days left for the New Balance x KITH x Ronnie Fieg 999 “Steel Blue” launch. The shoes will release this coming Friday the 22nd at Kith Manhattan, Kith Brooklyn and online at KithNYC.com for $130. There will also be a special edition of the shoe that comes in a wooden box. What do you get? The shoe of course, a KITH x New Balance hoodie and sweat shorts. There will be 100 of this limited box set dispatched between both KITH locations. It’ll retail for $290 and NO, this set will not be available online. It doesn’t end there though. To also compliment the shoe, there will be a KITH x New Balance capsule apparel collection released. It includes a hoodies, crew-necks, sweat shorts and sweatpants. There is one catch though. Only the crew-neck and sweat pants will be available for sale at $90 each. The hoodie and sweat shorts will be part of the box set exclusively…
For those that didn’t know, they already gave out tkts for the shoes and bracelets for the box set a few hours ago. Seems that the scorching weather made Ronnie Fieg care a bit for the campers. This means that most likely the box set is already gone. Whether the stand alone shoe is still available by tkt is unknown. You’re going to have to call them to ask before you make your trip down there.
I know people are wondering and have asked me about the look of this sample. Yes, there is a difference between this sample shoe and the actual production shoe. You can see for yourself when you compare these quality photographs with the current pics at RF’s blog. You’ll notice the difference specifically in the toe-box area and side panels. Unfortunately, sometimes the shape suffers because production shoes are made a bit faster than the actual sample. Is it a big difference? Well, that’s all based on your opinion and what you see.
For those that secured the box set, congratulations and I’m sure we’ll see some of those on the bay. For those taking their chance at the stores tomorrow, good luck! For those that can’t make it to the store, no worries because these will pop up at a few places through-out the world. Enjoy the photos and this is not the last you’ll see from KITH and New Balance.
