Today Afew boutique in Germany will be holding an event at their store for the brand KoiKlub. The affair hosted by Afew and sponsored by Onitsuka Tiger will pay tribute to Yoske Nishiumi by way of an exhibition on his works. There will be a japanese style BBQ, drinks, music, a magic show by Yuta Maruyama and an exclusive “Make Your Own Onitsuka Tiger” contest. To further add to the function, Afew built an ASICS Gel Lyte lll from scratch and by hand with some cobblers. This of course was not an easy thing to do, but AFEW came out with a winner at the end…
Afew took the colors that represent KoiKlub and applied them to premium materials of different leathers including denim throughout. Mesh is also adapted to the base, an Afew logo graces the heel panel and Koi Klub insignias make it to the outer part of the achilles notch panel. The best part of the shoe though is the form factor. They tried to engineer the original shape of the silhouette. How close did they get? Look at the images below for yourself and be your own judge. To get a better idea of the process you can actually see an included video after the images.
At the moment there is no plans to produce the shoe, but don’t count out the idea as hints are around. In my opinion, I think the shoe should be released. Especially if it will sustain that exact look of the sample. The shoe looks great with all those materials and so those the simple color-way. A perfect example of another collaboration with some real meaning behind it. Also, check out the microsite for any other info: Afew Koi Klub Micro Site and Facebook
For those attending tomorrow, have fun and enjoy the celebration.
If released, would it make it on your feet? Click the star voting system on top if so.
